Series description
Azura has a cohesive body of work titled “Diaspora of Royalty” reimagines and reclaims the narrative of royalty within the cultures of the diaspora. This series serves as a visual meditation on lineage, identity, and empowerment. The intention of this series is to recycle the psyche of the descendants from the diaspora. Each piece is an invitation for descendants of the diaspora to see themselves reflected in regal depictions—recycling the psyche, restoring pride, and reaffirming the nobility inherent in their heritage. Azura’s work transcends mere representation; it is a reclamation, a celebration, and a portal to self-recognition. Azura does this through textile powerful imagery and expansive tapestry paintings.
